HANDS ON TUCUMCARI ARTS INCUBATOR

Tucumcari MainStreet is pleased to announce our new Hands On Tucumcari arts incubator pilot program offering creative classes for the community and support for local artists to encourage the growth of the creative economy in Tucumcari. Through a competitive application process, five artists were selected for one month residencies. Each artist will receive a $500 stipend for workshop instruction, up to $250 budget for material, marketing and use of the Tucumcari Railroad Depot East Room for workshop sessions in exchange for hosting community classes during their month of residency. Additionally, the selected artists are eligible for a one month solo exhibition at the Princess Theater store front. Tucumcari MainStreet has determined the value for each residency is approximately $2000. Community classes will be offered monthly through December 15, 2023. Artist workshops will be announced on the Tucumcari MainStreet social media pages and newsletter as well as on the community calendar on KTNM 1400 and KQAY 92.7.

The Hands On Tucumcari program was made possible by a grant from the New Mexico Resiliency Alliance. Additional funding and support are being provided by New Mexico MainStreet and Tucumcari Federal Savings & Loan Association.

  • Randi Jo Eidsmoe

is a lifelong artist with a passion for preservation and recycling. She works primarily in textiles with a deep knowledge of historical clothing and material construction. Her art is about creating dialogue between socioeconomic definitions of art. Her art uses recycled materials, especially fabric, to create visual expositions from different eras, asking questions about what art is in comparison to craft and why they are separate. Randi explores the boundaries of the dominant narratives about self expression as art through perceived mundane means such as clothing, embellishment and alteration.

    Randi’s workshops will be offered November 15 - December 15, 2023.
